If you hear the words “pedestrian route” and think of walking you’re not wrong. But for the competitors of the pedestrian routes at the Red Fox Adventure Race this word brings up a surprisingly different image. Of course, the routes on this year’s race will include a few kilometers of easy road walking, however, most of the distance will take you over extremely varied terrain. Expect comments like “Where are we?,” “Oh my God, there’s a swamp here,” “I wonder if it ever ends?,” “Oh good, rocks again, my favorite place to break legs!,” “At least the cold water perks you up.” “Oy, it’s up to my chest!” “You guys, I found the trail!” “Oh wait, never mind, more swamp…”
Organizers of the race are unable to provide any definitive recommendations on equipment, apparel, or use of trekking poles during the hiking stages. You should definitely be psychologically and emotionally ready for everything. And obviously, don’t forget the mosquito repellent.
